Dr. Tobe & Amy Witmer
Tobe and Amy Witmer lost their daughter, Abigail, to suicide.
Through that loss, they realized much of the training out there never reached the hearts of those who are hurting and those left behind, so in 2023 they founded Safe Helps Group. Tobe has been in pastoral ministry since 1992 and was the first lead pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Newark, DE for 22 years, resigning in January 2024 to lead Safe Helps Group full time.
A corporate chaplain trained in crisis response and suicide intervention, Tobe serves as an Honorary Captain and appointed Chaplain in the Wellness Program of the Delaware State Police, and spearheaded the launch of Guiding Light Biblical Counseling in 2018. He completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Bob Jones University and was conferred a Doctor of Divinity from South India Baptist Bible College and Seminary in 2020.
Amy has taught high school Art and Health since 1993 and serves as Administrative Coordinator of SHG; a gifted musician, she also runs her piano and art studio, “Between the Ears.” Together they have joyfully reared five amazing children and adopted one very special adult daughter.
