How does Biblical Counseling address psychiatric labels?

Psychiatric labels are descriptions of symptoms, but they do not provide any explanations or solutions that work to change any of those behaviors. Biblical counseling, however, provides that hope of change!

All of the common labels put on people - paranoid, schizoid, narcissistic, borderline personality, obsessive-compulsive - are addressed in the Bible along with the solutions! The patterns of behavior that lead to these labels are very real, and biblical counselors provide the compassion and patience needed to address each issue.

John Calvin said that the Bible is like spectacles we put on to see God and interpret things clearly. We need to put on the eyeglasses of Scripture to profitably interact with all of life. Once we know the Bible and what it says about human nature, what’s wrong with us, and how the gospel makes things right, we can learn and enjoy many things.

As Biblical counselors, we have confidence that God’s Word has robust, rich, relevant, relational, profound wisdom and insight for the soul issues we face every day.

“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness” (2 Pet. 1:3).
